Democratic Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is taking heat for being the driving force to cause Amazon to abandon plans to open a new headquarters in New York City.

Newsmax reports in a statement released late Wednesday morning, Amazon said “a number of state and local politicians have made it clear that they oppose our presence and will not work with us.”

Ocasio-Cortez applauded the decision, after she had trashed the Amazon expansion, citing $3 billion in tax incentives being offered to the company to set up shop there.

But, the city will now lose out on an estimated 25,000 jobs, a real estate boom, and an estimated $27 billion in revenue.

According to polls, 56 percent of New York voters had approved of the deal.
