We are pleased to announce that the 25th Annual Penn-Trafford CROP Walk, sponsored by the Penn-Trafford Ministerium, will be held on Sunday, October 19. Registration will begin at 1:30 PM, and the Walk will start at 2:00 PM. Once again, this year, the venue will be Bushy Run Battlefield, and the gathering will be at the Pavilion near the park's entrance.

CROP Hunger Walks are community-based walk fundraising events held in cities and towns across the United States, created to support the global mission of Church World Service (https://cwsglobal.org/), a faith-based organization transforming communities around the globe through just and sustainable responses to hunger, poverty, displacement, and disaster.

The CROP Project began in 1947 when farmers donated food and seed crops to our hungry neighbors in post-World War II Europe and Asia. The first CROP Hunger Walks occurred in Bismarck, North Dakota (1969), and York, Pennsylvania (1970). Since then, CROP Hunger Walk events have been held in hundreds of communities,
large and small, raising millions of dollars to eradicate hunger and poverty. The hunger walk aims to raise donations and pledges collected by walkers to $5,000.00. 25% of the funds are returned to the local community and divided between the Trafford Food Bank and St. Barbara's Food Bank in Harrison City. Both Food Banks serve the local communities. 75% of the funds raised go to the work of Church World Service (CWS), providing a "hand up, not a hand out" to people in the U.S. and worldwide. CWS also responds to humanitarian needs and disasters like hurricanes and war torn areas, With the recent financial cuts to US aid programs, CWS has increased challenges to meeting needs of helping refugees, disaster relief, and development programs. You
can help us meet this goal by donating to the Walk online: https://events.crophungerwalk.org/crophungerwalks/event/penntownshippa

The Walk will have several options. There will be a 5 K walk and a shorter walk. In addition, there is a virtual walk option. CROP is about "Ending Hunger One Step at a Time." With so many refugees around the world and places where there is not a satisfactory food supply, the help of those who can contribute is greatly needed. There
is also a tremendous need in our local communities.

Participation in the Walk requires pre-registration. Registration materials can be obtained by contacting the Rev. John Titus, [email protected], at 412-334-5496, for those without a church affiliation. Over 50 years of walking. Over 50 years of ending hunger together. Join this legacy to step out for the next generation.
