The Impending War

The president will not “prepare” the people of the nation for the impending conflict with Iran. He is in a no-win scenario when it comes to getting his message out to the American people – at least in a one speech sort of setting. For one, that is not his personal messaging strength. Secondly, he will meet resistance with such a message from many corners that think it impossible for him to ever do anything right – and one of those corners is legacy media. His messages come in small snippets and his policies are confirmed by realities not words. It is said of Winston Churchill that he “mustered the English language and sent it into battle.” This president is the opposite of that – he will win the battle and let others write about it in eloquence.
I have said before that the civil rights protests of the late-50’s and early 60’s – up until the assassination of MLK, Jr. – “worked” because they represented righteousness and goodness. Segregation was wrong and everyone knew it. Those that opposed its demise knew it was wrong, but they stood to lose much, if not all, in its demise. The protests, marches and demonstrations of today, and even those that occurred in protest to Vietnam then, were not so effective and are so contentious precisely because the cause they seek is not nearly so righteous.
Given the slaughter the mullahs of Iran ordered, and was carried out by the IRGC and the Basij in recent weeks – any conflict with Iran is righteous. And the American people know it.
Even those that think Trump can do nothing right know it – they may not admit it, but they know it. They have enormous sunk costs in hating Trump. So like those that opposed desegregation, they will continue to oppose, but they will know the conflict is righteous.
Dennis Prager has a book coming out on the need for God as a root for maintaining values. It is excerpted today in The Free Press. Dennis is right – we live in a valueless age and God is necessary to maintain values. But even in this morally vacuous age – people know some things are wrong. People may wrongfully deny the Holocaust, but they do so because of their antisemitism and they know, with great certainty, there is no possible argument for the Holocaust to be good and right. Therefore, in their mind, it must not have happened.
The blatant murder of tens of thousands of people as occurred in Iran just weeks ago is like that. People may choose to argue the veracity of the reports and the body count, but no one can argue the slaughter was righteous. And in the end does even the difference between six thousand killed and forty thousand killed really matter when considering the righteousness of the action? I don’t think so. It is a monstrous, heinous, evil act – regardless of the victim count.
Righteousness speaks louder than words.
The president does not need words in this instance. That his actions will be opposed is inevitable. Yet, that opposition does not have a leg to stand on. Everyone save the willfully ignorant knows it.
The conflict will begin when it begins and it will be executed with the usual precision and excellence the United States military demands and demonstrates. And most importantly – we will have righteousness on our side.
