The president will not “prepare” the people of the nation for the impending conflict with Iran. He is in a no-win scenario when it comes to getting his message out to the American people – at least in a one speech sort of setting. For one, that is not his personal messaging strength. Secondly, he will meet resistance with such a message from many corners that think it impossible for him to ever do anything right – and one of those corners is legacy media. His messages come in small snippets and his policies are confirmed by realities not words. It is said of Winston Churchill that he “mustered the English language and sent it into battle.” This president is the opposite of that – he will win the battle and let others write about it in eloquence.. . .
I.C.E. is not separating families nor using children as “bait.” The host explained it all when Obama repeated this lie. Neither the Trump administration nor Bari Weiss forbade Colbert from airing an interview. Jim Geraghty explains that quite thoroughly. It seems clear to me that Trump Derangement – hatred actually – is turning memes and spin into lies, then those are morphing into conspiracy theories and the Trump paranoid are biting – hook, line, and sinker. Which makes me wonder just how much weed is being consumed by the average Trump hater. One must begin to consider if Trump Derangement can reach levels of pathological mental health.. . .
If you were paying any attention to things geopolitical over the weekend then you know SecState Rubio delivered a speech at the Munich Security Conference on Saturday that may prove as pivotal in setting the world’s course for the next few decades as Winston Churchill’s “Sinews of Peace” address at Westminster College in Fulton Missouri once did. (For the uninformed that is the speech in which Churchill coined the phrase “Iron Curtain” and set the course for the Cold War.) The speech has won nearly universal acclaim not just from punditry but from those in attendance who gave it a standing ovation.. . .
Ran into an interesting article just this morning, “Americans rank clergy at record low in honesty and ethics ratings: Gallup.” The poll cited does not delve much into the reasons, but it does note that the same is true for most institutions and those that work in them. The piece also examined a Barna poll that was more revealing. The polls were insufficient to say this as fact, but it did seem like the slip in perceived trustworthiness was as much about expectations as it was job performance. What’s going on?. . .
All of modernity, and all the modernization that proceeded it, has flowed from two primary and basic “inventions” – the wheel and fire. The wheel is the basis of all mechanics and fire is the basis of all energy making. Fire is a chemical reaction called an “oxidation reaction” – oxygen being one reactant, some carbon-based material being the other, universally resulting the production of CO2. Respiration is the basis of all animal life. Animals take in oxygen, and in an internal, biological oxidation reaction produce energy to make their bodies function and release CO2. This whole production of CO2 is a fundamental of life. Which made 2009’s “endangerment finding,” by the Obama administration E.P.A., deeming CO2 as a pollutant, endangering human health and the environment, a power-grab of god-like levels and a denial of life itself.. . .
Yesterday we looked at how, in so many areas, policy was driven by “bullying,” not reason. In areas like weed legalization, D.E.I., climate and covid everybody knew the policies were just a tad bit over the line, but social pressure (these days called bullying) was used to enforce the policy too far. In the last 24 hours I have run into a couple of articles that offer a simple solution.. . .
Alright, before I dive in, the airspace at the center of the U.S.- Mexico border is closed for ten days. “Security reasons” is all that we know. The use of lethal force is authorized to enforce the closure. Something is brewing, don’t know what, but something…. [NOTE 2 HOURS LATER: The airport is reported as reopening.] OK – on to the topic at hand – an interesting set of unrelated stories that are connected by a single factor – “consensus” without evidence leads to bullying.. . .
