Sometimes the words we regret most are spoken in moments when we felt completely justified.

Someone made the same mistake again.

A coworker ignored an expectation.

A family member crossed a boundary.

A difficult conversation had been building for weeks.

By the time we finally speak, our frustration has already written the script.

We know what we want to say.

We may even believe the other person deserves to hear it.

But Scripture invites us to ask a different question:

Not simply, “Am I right?”

But, “Will the way I say this reflect Christ?”

Candice Lucey describes the wisdom of pausing before difficult workplace conversations to examine her own heart, seek counsel, and ask the Holy Spirit for help.

That pause matters.

Because words rarely begin with the mouth.

They begin in the heart.
