This Easter, let’s meditate upon six people throughout history God used to point toward Christ. And then let’s marvel at Christ’s unwavering faithfulness, grace, and mercy.
Many churches celebrate Palm Sunday, which is always the Sunday before Easter. Maybe your church has children waving palm branches to help them connect to the story. But while this is a triumphal entry, it is Jesus’ first step toward His death.
Use these simple yet powerful Palm Sunday prayers to celebrate the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem and the passion He willingly endured for our salvation!
Each day of Holy Week is an opportunity to celebrate together as a family. This year, consider following a simple pattern: reading the Scriptures, discussing the passages, engaging in a memorable activity, and praying together. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Jesus all week long.
As humans, we don’t have the power to change people’s hearts, to stir them to action, or to accept the call of the gospel. But, we can co-labor with God, allowing the Holy Spirit to work through us as we invite, encourage, and share with people. If you have found yourself wrongfully assuming or projecting past experiences about those who only attend service on Easter, might I encourage you to pray these prayers?
In today's day and age, kids question the Bible now more than ever. By teaching them biblically based concepts in ways that are age-appropriate from an early age, kids will understand concepts like grace, atonement, sacrifice, mercy, and the unconditional love of Jesus in new and exciting ways. With a bit of creativity and the use of old methods like flannel graphs and crafts combined with new methods like technology and games, kids may be able to understand Jesus' death and resurrection and the importance of why we celebrate Easter each year.
Let's take a look at some of the most asked questions about Easter that generally come up by curious young minds and see how we can go about answering them in a simple yet meaningful way. While some questions may be heartfelt, others may be downright funny, but as parents, it can provide a beautiful opportunity to bond with your little people!
Out of college, I joined the staff of an international youth ministry. I thought it would be beneficial to have my small group of high school gals study the Scriptures contained in a gospel tract we used to introduce others to Christ.
As I dug deeper into the second principle, “Humankind is sinful and separated from God,” I realized this study was more for me than for my group.
I knew “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). But I hadn’t realized how much sin had
Most Easter holidays come and go with little more than a faint memory of colored eggs and candy baskets. This year, let’s make Holy Week a time to refocus our hearts on the Passion of Christ. Through daily prayers, let’s remember Who we’re celebrating and the most wonderful gift we’ve ever been given.
A woman is the first to describe her encounters with a risen Jesus in an era when women were often misunderstood and ignored. Yet, she was the first person Jesus commissioned to share the Good News of his resurrection.
Though we are called to remember the gospel all year long, every day, there is a particular focus that Good Friday brings to the Easter celebration. Good Friday kicks off the most momentous historical weekend of the year; Good Friday is the reason we have a resurrection Easter celebration.
